Weekend in Bakersfield

At the end of February we took a weekend getaway to Bakersfield to visit one of Adam's friends and our former neighbors. Between the two families we have 8 children so you can imagine the chaos that existed, but in all honesty the kids play really well. Bedtime is a nightmare though. It was their #2's birthday so we had a birthday shindig for him. My friend and I made a farm cake which was a fun adventure. The kids may balloon birds which was also a fun adventure. We had a great time and miss them terribly.

Ok so i know that i have been out of the loop and i have some great reason why.





#1 i am a teacher = no time except preping for the cst (california standards test) and making sure that my students are actually focused and learning





#2 i am the mom of 4 boys - enough said

#3 i have become a slave to these machines

Can you tell I have been super busy and school has been taking over as well as the other things such as four boys. So we had to split the boys up into a big boy room and a little boy room. It is fun to begin to decorate a room. I am excited to stretch my decorating brain out and attempt to pull some things together. Here are a few pieces that I recently purchased on etsy. Let me sat that it will be an outdoorsy theme yet vintage and eclectic.

Boy Fun

Being in a family of boys means that there are sometimes things I will just not understand. For instance when you have an orange tree like this.
You must throw the oranges against the garage wall to open them.

Then enjoy the juicy goodness of your hard work.

Finally, allow all the orange rinds to fertilize the ground.

Making Cookies

Yesterday we got a box in the mail from Gma and Gpa. It was filled with Valentine goodies. One of the presents was a cookie cutter/stamper and some sugar cookies. I wanted to make cookies over Christmas, but did not have the time or the energy. So today in an effort to do something fun together, we made cookies. I think they turned out pretty ok. Not great, but I have never claimed to be a baker (nor a cooker really). The boys had fun and we had some yummy treat for getting a job done.

If I had had a girl

I won a hat off my friends website. It was so fun because you had to write a response to who you would give it to. (you couldn't keep it for yourself) I won!!! I was so shocked. The funny thing is that it was for a girl so obviously I wouldn't keep it for myself. It came today in the mail and just for fun I put it on my boys.

I would've had a darn cute girl if God would have allowed me, but I love my good looking gentelmen.

New Year's Eve Part 1

This was New Year's Eve. One of our family traditions is to go to Pasadena on NYE and the following morning we get up early and see the Rose Parade. Usually I stay inside and keep away from Colorado, but this year my friend, Mel, and I decided to go and experience the craziness of the street. I can say that I have experienced it and that will be enough for me anytime.
